McDowell Mountain Ranch is a prestigious master-planned golf course community in north Scottsdale, Arizona that is nestled in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. This massive master-planned community encompasses more than 8,000 total acres. Some of the homes offer spectacular views of the premier golf course at the McDowell Mountain Golf Club while many of the homes have breathtaking mountain views.
The master-planned community includes 25 subdivisions consisting of nearly 3,500 homes, townhomes, and condos combined. Throughout the community you will find life-sized bronze deer that were created by world-renowned artist Snell Johnson.
The homes in McDowell Mountain Ranch were built from 1995 to 2007 by a variety of custom and standard new home builders. The homes range from 1,093 to 7,725 square feet and the lots range from 2,800 to 159,601 square feet (3.66 acres) estates.
McDowell Mountain Ranch is famously known as a hikers’ paradise because it provides access to numerous paved walkways and hiking trails. The community borders the McDowell Sonoran Preserve which was established in 1994 by the Scottsdale City Council. This massive 57 square mile preserve is approximately one-third of the total area of Scottsdale. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve contains over 120 miles of non-motorized, multi-use trails. The preserve is free-of-charge and it is open every day from sunrise to sunset.
McDowell Mountain Golf Club was built on the western slope of the McDowell Mountains. The golf course was constructed under the guidance of the in order to create a wildlife sanctuary and thereby obtain the highly coveted status of Certified Silver Audubon Signature Sanctuary. The club features a 10,000 square foot clubhouse with a full-service restaurant and a multi-use pavilion for special events.
The 18-hole championship public golf course at the McDowell Mountain Golf Club (formerly Sanctuary Golf Course) is known as one of the premier golf courses in Scottsdale. The golf course was designed and later extensively renovated by its original golf course architect Randy Heckenkemper.
The golf course renovation included reshaping many of the fairways to make them wider while adding more bunkers and tee areas. The golf course stretches over 7,000 yards and offers a challenging golf experience for players of all abilities. The golf course presents demanding shots for advanced golfers while at the same time giving the average golfer a variety of shot options.
The nationally recognized Westworld equestrian center is located close to McDowell Mountain Ranch. WestWorld covers approximately 120 acres that includes the equestrian center and a special events facility which hosts the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction and the Arabian Horse Show.
The Ice Den is a world-class ice skating facility. This state-of-the-art ice skating facility is where the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes Hockey club practices on a regular basis. In addition to hockey, the facility has hosted many national and international figure skating events, shows and competitions. Since it opened in 1998, the Ice Den has become a popular attraction for many residents in McDowell Mountain Ranch and throughout metro Phoenix.
The main park is a 75-acre park that features an aquatic center, three soccer fields and two lighted ball fields. The Aquatic Center is open to the general public; however, there is a fee to use the pool and fitness center. Scottsdale's Summer Family Pass allows families of all sizes unlimited public swim and fitness center visits from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Aquatic Center offers swimming lessons, water exercises, water aerobics and fitness classes. In addition to the general public, the aquatic center is used by high school teams and competitive teams.
The popular Skate Park is a 16,000 square foot facility that is open to all skateboarders and inline skaters. It features a deep bowl and offers many challenging real life obstacles such as benches, tables, rails, ledges and planters. In order to ensure the safety of all patrons and preserve the structural integrity of the facility, no bikes (including BMX bikes) are permitted in the Skate Park.
The McDowell Center and Community Center are located on Paradise Lane. Both facilities are available to McDowell Mountain Ranch residents to rent for private events, parties and other functions. Both facilities provide breathtaking views of the McDowell Mountains.
The HOA fee includes the following:
1) Maintenance of the landscaping for all common areas.
2) Maintenance of the green belts and desert belts.
3) Maintenance of the medians and entrance monuments.
4) Water and Electric utilities used for the common areas.
The HOA office is open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
